What Happens When You Adjust the Chickens?

In May 2025, I decided to explore a question most people had probably never considered:

Would eggs from chiropractically adjusted chickens test differently from other eggs?

As an animal chiropractor, I had already seen changes in the movement, behavior, and overall function of animals receiving chiropractic care. That made me curious about whether supporting the health of laying hens could somehow be reflected in the eggs they produced.

Rather than relying only on my own impressions, I created a double-blind, in-office muscle-testing project.

We compared four different types of eggs, including eggs produced by chickens receiving chiropractic adjustments. Neither the participants nor the people conducting the testing knew which egg was which during the process.

A total of 51 people participated.

The eggs from the chiropractically adjusted chickens tested favorably for 41 of the 51 participants.

This was an exploratory in-office project—not a formal clinical trial or proof that chiropractic changes the nutritional composition of an egg. But the results were interesting enough to raise more questions.

What happens when we look beyond the final product and consider the health of the animal producing it?

Could supporting an animal’s mobility and nervous-system function influence more than what we can immediately observe?

And how might our food choices change if we knew more about the care the animals received?

For me, this project represented the intersection of several things I love: animal chiropractic, natural health, locally produced food, and the willingness to ask unusual questions.

Innovation often begins with curiosity.

It begins when someone looks at something ordinary—like an egg—and wonders whether there might be more to the story.

I don’t believe one small project gives us every answer.

But sometimes 51 people, four types of eggs, and one very unusual question can give us a fascinating place to begin.
